bills have been invited to join Hugh Snelgrove and his Compton based Cricket team, at Ray Hughes Gallery, Surry Hills this Saturday 5 February for a “A night with the Homies II”.
From the mean streets of Compton to the best cricket clubs of Australia, the world’s most improbable cricket team will begin their historic Australian tour January 31 to February 12, 2011.
The Compton cricket team or CCC is the only American born disadvantaged Exhibition cricket team in the world today.
The Homies mission is to:
1 Curb the negative effects of gang activities amongst the youth of Compton and
2 Addressing homelessness in the inner city through the principles and ethics of cricket
The CCC was formed by, US homeless activist Ted Hayes and Hollywood movie Producer Katy Haber a decade ago, when Disney picked up the rights to make a movie about the team.
An exciting addition to the venture is Hip-Hop Cricket Rap, produced and performed by CLOTH, original team members Theo and Isaac Hayes. Hip-Hop Cricket Rap transfers Cricket language and culture into ghetto vernacular and style. For a sample, click here:
